Provide expert sign language interpretation services to K-12 students in the Virginia Beach area, primarily supporting elementary students in 1:1 settings. This role supports academic and social communication for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
Responsibilities
- Deliver clear and effective sign language interpretation tailored to students' needs
- Support academic and social communication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators or peers
- Collaborate with school staff to facilitate an inclusive environment that promotes student success
- Serve in a flexible role across various schools within the district to meet student needs in a timely manner
- Maintain compliance with Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III standards and district performance expectations
Requirements
- Current Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
Qualifications
- Previous experience interpreting with school-aged children, especially in elementary settings, preferred
Nice to Have
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (candidates with 3.0 or QAS Score of 3+ will be considered)
- Previous experience interpreting with school-aged children, especially in elementary settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to diverse educational environments
Certifications
Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
