ASL Interpreter

About This Role

This role involves providing clear and accurate communication access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing high school students in Yachats, OR, fostering an inclusive educational environment through skilled American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, teachers, and administrators
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities accurately and professionally
• Collaborate with educators to support student learning and participation
• Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in all interactions

Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation within educational settings
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication facilitation
• Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, teachers, and staff

Nice to Have

• Experience interpreting in high school environments
