Armed Security Officer

About This Role

Maintain safety and security for staff, patients, and the public in a healthcare setting as an Armed Security Officer. Manage situations involving volatile behavioral health characteristics and carry a Tanner Health System-issued firearm.

Responsibilities

• Perform general security tasks with a high degree of difficulty
• Maintain safety and security of staff, patients, and the general public
• Manage situations involving volatile behavioral health characteristics of patients
• Carry a Tanner Health System-issued firearm
• Complete incident, accident, and investigative reports
• Communicate professionally with the public and patients
• Function independently and exercise restraint under stressful conditions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years of related experience in Public Safety (Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire Service, EMS), Healthcare Security, Military, or Private Business Security
• Ability to legally drive in the State of Georgia
• Insurable by TMC vehicle insurance carrier
• Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued Weapons Carry License
• Ability to pass psychological examination
• Ability to complete required training within 90 days (IAHSS Advanced, BLS CPR, SCIPP, CEW body camera use, Tanner Health System firearms training)
• Ability to maintain minimum standards for Tanner Health System Armed Security Officers, including firearms proficiency
• Computer and writing skills for reporting
• Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years of related experience in Public Safety (Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire Service, EMS), Healthcare Security, Military, or Private Business Security
