About This Role

This role involves providing high-level medical care to patients with complex medical diseases and solid organ malignancies in inpatient units, working collaboratively with physicians and nurses. The Advanced Practice Provider will utilize their expertise to maximize medical-oncology care and participate in quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team
  • Perform histories, physicals, and procedures as outlined in privileging agreement
  • Partner with oncologists, palliative care specialists and nurses in the care of oncology patient population
  • Care for patients undergoing complications related to chemotherapy and advanced disease
  • Participate in research as appropriate
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Document care according to standards
  • Prescribe in accordance with the collaborative agreement and State regulations
  • Participate in quality improvement projects, grow through professional committees involvement and exemplify evidence-based care

Requirements

  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a MS
  • Current Pennsylvania State licensure or eligibility
  • Eligibility for credentialing by the medical board
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • BLS/CPR (as per American Heart Association for ambulatory setting)
  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification
  • Prescriptive Authority

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing or Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate Degree – Physician Assistant
  • At least 2 years of inpatient advanced practice experience preferred. Outpatient experience will be considered.

Nice to Have

  • Oncology experience as a Nurse or as a Provider
  • 2 years of inpatient advanced practice experience
