About This Role

Lead accounting operations for a portfolio of residential and commercial properties, overseeing the accounting team and ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger staff
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for multiple properties and entities
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Review and approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Develop and monitor accounting policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance
  • Provide oversight and support in the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and variance reports
  • Assist with the preparation and issuance of resale certificates and demand statements through platforms like HomewiseDocs.com
  • Liaise with property managers, accountants, and external auditors to address financial and operational issues
  • Maintain internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and software

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience in property management or real estate accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, AppFolio, Caliber, MRI, Entrata or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with financial analysis tools
  • Familiarity with HomewiseDocs.com

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-entity or HOA accounting
