About This Role

Manage the day-to-day operations of the office accounting department and oversee accounting staff, contributing to a high-performing finance team. This role ensures timely financial analysis, reconciliation, and compliance with accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Create a supportive environment to develop a high-performing finance team, provide training, and engage in mentoring relationships.
  • Lead accountants and related team members, provide timely performance feedback, and contribute to performance appraisals.
  • Review quarterly account reconciliations and make recommendations for improvement to the Financial Manager.
  • Review monthly G&A monitor and assist Financial Manager in updating forecasts.
  • Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor and review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator.
  • Manage petty cash, payroll, and joint venture bank accounts and reconciliations.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries.
  • Assist in the resolution of daily office issues, including vendor disputes, escalating to Financial Manager as appropriate.
  • Review all office contracts and lease agreements prior to submission to Financial Manager for approval.
  • Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5 years of related experience in accounting
  • Thorough application of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger)
  • Analytic ability to review and assess financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistencies
  • Proficient with financial system applications, MS Excel, and MS Office
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • Construction industry experience
  • Supervisory/management of a small team
