Manage the day-to-day operations of the office accounting department and oversee accounting staff, contributing to a high-performing finance team. This role ensures timely financial analysis, reconciliation, and compliance with accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Create a supportive environment to develop a high-performing finance team, provide training, and engage in mentoring relationships.
- Lead accountants and related team members, provide timely performance feedback, and contribute to performance appraisals.
- Review quarterly account reconciliations and make recommendations for improvement to the Financial Manager.
- Review monthly G&A monitor and assist Financial Manager in updating forecasts.
- Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor and review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator.
- Manage petty cash, payroll, and joint venture bank accounts and reconciliations.
- Review and approve monthly journal entries.
- Assist in the resolution of daily office issues, including vendor disputes, escalating to Financial Manager as appropriate.
- Review all office contracts and lease agreements prior to submission to Financial Manager for approval.
- Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 5 years of related experience in accounting
- Thorough application of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger)
- Analytic ability to review and assess financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistencies
- Proficient with financial system applications, MS Excel, and MS Office
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Construction industry experience
- Supervisory/management of a small team
