About This Role

Lead and mentor the accounting team, owning the month-end close process and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting for an investment management firm. This role involves financial reporting and analysis, compliance, general ledger oversight, and process enhancement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, delivering insights into financial results and performance trends.
  • Maintain adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end close processes and provide support for annual audits and financial reviews.
  • Supervise general ledger activity, including account reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, lease accounting, and overall balance sheet accuracy.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows, controls, systems, and documentation.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to report on GAAP financials and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee the accounting staff, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Evaluate potential acquisition targets through detailed financial analysis.
  • Direct and coordinate accounting operations to ensure a smooth and accurate month-end close.
  • Stay informed on industry developments and best practices to evaluate financial condition and accounting strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
  • Hands-on experience with accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
