Accounting Manager

About This Role

As an Accounting Manager, you will be the primary accounting partner for a portfolio of clients, ensuring meticulous financial reporting, GAAP adherence, and insightful analysis. This role involves leading and developing a team of accounting professionals and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage client accounting relationships
• Explain financial results clearly, detailing components and variances for strategic decision-making
• Oversee successful execution of client engagements and deliverables
• Manage revenue cycle (order to cash)
• Oversee expense management process
• Lead or support payroll processing and accounting
• Manage monthly financial close, KPI measurement, and management/board reporting
• Ensure client compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
• Own client-specific requirements such as sales tax, covenant, and sales commission calculations
• Lead and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, guiding best practices and career development
• Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Assume other special activities and responsibilities including technology research, implementation, and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Experience successfully revamping accounting processes and technology
• Strong with complex revenue recognition (eg: ASC 606 for subscription revenue)
• Deep knowledge of complex payroll
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience
• Strong understanding of KPIs with a track record of using them for informed decisions
• Exceptionally strong Google Sheet / Microsoft Excel GAAP-compliant financial modeling skills
• Firm grasp on sales tax liability management, including usage of management tools like Avalara
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making & project management skills
• Experience as lead accountant in rapidly growing firm(s)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager
• 2+ years of audit work as an auditor in CPA firm

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager, plus experience as a lead accountant in rapidly growing firm(s) and 2+ years of audit work in a CPA firm.
