Accounting Manager

About This Role

As an Accounting Manager, you will partner with clients to provide meticulous financial reporting, ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance, and deliver insightful analysis. This role involves managing complex client engagements, leading a team of accounting professionals, and implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting partner for a portfolio of clients
• Explain how financial results are derived, detailing account components and variances for transparency and accuracy
• Oversee the successful execution of client engagements and ensure on-time, quality deliverables
• Manage revenue cycle (order to cash)
• Oversee expense management process
• Lead or support payroll processing and accounting
• Responsible for monthly financial close, KPI measurement, and management/board reporting
• Execute client compliance, internal controls, and oversee GAAP/regulatory requirements
• Own client-specific requirements like sales tax, covenant calculations, and sales commissions
• Lead and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, guiding best practices and career development
• Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback

Requirements

• Experience successfully revamping accounting processes and technology
• Strong with complex revenue recognition (eg: ASC 606 for subscription revenue)
• Deep knowledge of complex payroll
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience
• Strong understanding of KPIs with track record of using to make quick, informed decisions
• Exceptionally strong Google Sheet / Microsoft Excel GAAP-compliant financial modeling skills
• Firm grasp on sales tax liability management, including usage of management tool like Avalara
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making & project management skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager, plus 2+ years of audit work in a CPA firm

Nice to Have

• Master’s in Accounting
• CPA license
• Xero, Intacct & NetSuite experience
• Experience as lead accountant in rapidly growing firm(s)
