About This Role

Supervise and direct skilled trade activity to optimize production equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, cost efficiency, machine uptime, and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, plan, and implement skilled trade activities to optimize production equipment
  • Institute, review, and improve PM programs to reduce downtime and maintenance costs
  • Lead a multi-technical team across multiple shifts and ensure effective communication
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement teams
  • Approve associate timecards and complete attendance paperwork
  • Assess and schedule associate training needs to improve skills
  • Manage and direct department associates, assess performance, and provide feedback and evaluations
  • Assign associates to troubleshoot, repair, and replace machinery for maximum utilization
  • Coordinate weekly PM schedules to optimize skilled trade effectiveness
  • Plan, schedule, and manage all shutdown and start-up related activities
  • Recommend a budget plan and participate in capital projects
  • Drive productivity, safety, and process improvement opportunities
  • Work in compliance with IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards and MIOSHA legislative requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the repair of production equipment, preferably for an automotive parts manufacturer
  • Experienced working with Motoman & Fanuc Robots
  • Experienced working with Allen Bradley PLC’s
  • Minimum 2 years of Supervisory or Leadership Experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot Mechanical and Electrical issues
  • Experience working with PLC’s
  • Strong problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Post secondary diploma from a technical college
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the repair of production equipment, preferably for an automotive parts manufacturer, and minimum 2 years of Supervisory or Leadership Experience

  • Robotic Welding, MIG Welding or Spot Welding Expertise
