The Youth Services Worker provides treatment services and ensures the safety and security of youth in the Missouri Division of Youth Services. This role involves creating a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment in day treatment and residential programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide Awareness Supervision to youth, monitoring personal conduct, care, and therapy.
- Monitor activity, behavior, and movement of youth within facilities and off-grounds, performing physical counts.
- Maintain security, including intervention and physical restraints during emergencies or altercations.
- Supervise youth in work, recreational, and religious activities; conduct inspections for health and safety hazards.
- Assist youth with personal issues, refer issues to the group, and observe and report significant behavioral conditions.
- Implement group and individual treatment plans.
- Maintain professional boundaries and interact positively with youth, families, co-workers, and the public.
- Prepare reports regarding client adjustment and progress, and maintain youth records.
- Dispense medications to youth and perform first-aid interventions including CPR during medical emergencies.
- Transport and escort youth in everyday and emergency situations.
- Work assigned shifts (evening, overnight, daytime) and attend mandatory meetings, responding to facility emergencies.
- Assist in educational programs.
Requirements
- Ability to work with youth and family members
- Ability to physically respond appropriately to work situations or emergencies
- Ability to learn verbal and physical crisis intervention/de-escalation techniques and emergency treatment procedures
- Ability to transport youth and travel as necessary
Qualifications
- Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six earned credit hours in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience, or sixty earned credit hours from an accredited college or university which may substitute for experience.
