About This Role

Provide direct and one-on-one care to consumers with developmental disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, treatment plans, and skill development to enhance their well-being and community integration. This role is based at Southeast Missouri Residential Services, a State of Missouri facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on, direct care to clients including observations, treatment, and monitoring
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, and dressing
  • Develop and/or implement habilitation or treatment plans
  • Teach or assist in developing client skills related to self-help, play, education, and socialization
  • Assist and/or provide basic health care for clients such as checking vital signs, height, and weight
  • Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output, and report on client conditions
  • Observe, report, and record changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities
  • Pass medications as a certified medication aide after facility certification
  • Perform moderately complex duties without detailed instruction

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with the developmentally disabled
  • Strong work ethic
  • Active interest in helping to care for consumers
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Possess adequate vision to read written material
  • Possess adequate hearing
  • Ability to successfully pass Level One Medication Aide certification within one (1) month of assignment
  • Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients, including basic nursing, first aid and emergency treatments
  • Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric populations
  • Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed
  • Must pass a background screening

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed)
