VP of Technology & Innovation

About This Role

This role is a senior leadership position responsible for defining and executing technology strategies, leading engineering and QA teams, and driving innovation for a B2B SaaS company specializing in fleet management technology. The VP will ensure technology investments align with business objectives, enhance customer experiences, and maintain robust, scalable architecture.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product leadership to assess optimal technology and architecture decisions to meet product and go-to-market requirements.
• Develop and implement comprehensive IT strategies aligned with business objectives, ensuring technology investments drive competitive advantage.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to determine their potential impact on the organization.
• Build and scale multiple software engineering and QA teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop team members, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
• Manage the software engineering department's budget, resource allocation, and project prioritization.
• Provide technical guidance and direction for the engineering teams, promoting healthy design patterns and architectural philosophy.
• Guide the architecture and engineering teams in the continual evolution of architecture principles and best practices.
• Drive the use of AI tools across the Engineering & QA teams.
• Facilitate technical debates around design options and steer teams to optimal near-term and long-term solutions.
• Develop and manage enterprise software application architecture and infrastructure, including organizational information systems and IT support.
• Implement and maintain critical IT systems, ensuring application system security, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity processes.
• Build vendor relationships, purchase new technology, software, and equipment, and manage budgets.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leveraging Microsoft Azure and AWS for enterprise SaaS application hosting
• Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 Administration and Security Best Practices
• Experience with building enterprise-grade stream-processing platforms leveraging modern technologies like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon Kinesis, or Azure Eventhubs
• Experience managing software engineering organizations that include web application and mobile application engineering and quality assurance engineering
• Responsibility for the cybersecurity of a software company with a cloud-hosted solution, helping organizations navigate SOC 2 compliance
• Experience managing the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans of an IoT platform
• Knowledge of best practices and experience with building B2B Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products
• Strong knowledge and extensive experience with enterprise software architecture design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of IT leadership experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Database management
• Hardware product experience
• Telematics, Video Telematics and/or fleet technology experience
