The Veterinary Assistant assists veterinarians with medical procedures, communicates with clients about pet care, and educates them on treatment plans. This role contributes to building trust and loyalty with clients and their pets.
Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor with medical procedures under direct supervision
- Provide written and verbal communication to clients regarding their pets' care
- Educate clients on treatments and gain consent for treatment plans
- Manage medical records through practice management software
- Dispense medication and perform various medical tasks like X-rays, blood draws, and administering vaccines
- Set up, break down, clean, and maintain medical equipment
- Assist with cleaning all areas of the hospital
Requirements
- Comfort interacting with animals with calm and compassion
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
Qualifications
- Associate degree in veterinary assisting (preferred)
Nice to Have
- Certified Veterinary Technician
