About This Role

This role supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians by assisting with patient flow, communicating with the medical team, and performing procedures not requiring veterinary assistance. The Veterinary Assistant plays a key part in ensuring quality veterinary care and client education for pets.

Responsibilities

Help maintain the flow of patients
Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs
Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety and cleanliness of treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs
Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care
Mentor other members of the hospital team

Requirements

Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program
