Vehicle Technician

About This Role

The Heavy and Light-Duty Vehicle Technician, under the supervision of the Shop Coordinator, is responsible for maintaining and repairing the district's fleet of vehicles, including school buses, trucks, cars, and mobile equipment. This role ensures all vehicles meet the highest safety standards and comply with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair district vehicles including school buses, light, medium, and heavy duty trucks, cars, and mobile equipment
• Ensure vehicles are maintained according to the highest safety standards
• Ensure all applicable safety law and regulation requirements are fully met
• Manage inventory and property
• Communicate professionally with various customers, including drivers, public safety personnel, principals, and vendors

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Four (4) years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Knowledge of on-board computerized diagnostics
• Knowledge of computerized gasoline and diesel engine operation and repair
• Knowledge of fuel systems, ignition systems, drive train and safety systems
• Ability to use diagnostic engine analyzer and charging system analyzer
• Ability to use all types of mechanics tools
• Knowledge of body repair and painting
• Knowledge of state inspection and emissions laws (required after employment)

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Four (4) years of experience related to vehicle maintenance and repair or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
