About This Role

This role is for a Varsity Boys Tennis Head Coach at Sanford High School, focused on developing an athletic program distinguished by integrity and character, while instructing students in tennis techniques and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student athletes and ensure they are appropriately ready for competition through proper preparation and planning
  • Supervise and manage off-season programs to enhance players' abilities
  • Serve as a role model for students, instructing them in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of tennis
  • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities and exercises
  • Assess players' skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and determine game/competition strategy
  • Supervise athletes during practices and competition, following established procedures for injuries
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students, and submit a list of award winners at season end
  • Participate in special activities including parent's night and award nights
  • Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and related records
  • Work to enhance and display the philosophy and objectives of the athletic department
  • Administer the District athletic codes and maintain orderly records of issued equipment/uniforms

Requirements

  • Knowledge and expertise in the strategies, methods, and techniques of Tennis
  • Ability to manage all aspects of coaching tennis
  • Earned or will earn credentials of Maine Coaches (including CPR/First Aid and Current Maine CHRC)

Qualifications

  • Three years of varsity coaching experience preferred, previous experience working with high-school aged athletes preferred

Certifications

CPR/First Aid (Required) Current Maine CHRC (fingerprinting) (Required)
