Special Education Technician II

About This Role

This role involves providing instructional and non-instructional support to special needs students, working under the guidance of a special education teacher. The Educational Technician II will help implement instructional activities, reinforce skills, and supervise students to ensure an inclusive learning environment within the RSU 29 school district.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with special needs students in small groups on academic and functional skills under the instructional direction and supervision of the special education teacher
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills, based on an understanding of individual students, and their needs, interests, and abilities
• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of fully licensed teachers
• Assist with the supervision of students during non-instructional time, and with non-instructional duties
• Participate in in-service training, as assigned

Requirements

• Proper Maine DOE certification
• Background check
