UX Product Designer

About This Role

Own the design of core user journeys, collaborate with engineering and product to implement new features, and drive design decisions through a balance of taste, data, and user empathy for an AI research lab startup.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of core user journeys across the product, from initial flows to polished UI
• Collaborate with engineering and product to implement new features and refine existing ones
• Drive design decisions through a balance of taste, data, and user empathy
• Bring clarity to complex user experiences as our product evolves and scales
• Create and maintain a clean, modern visual language inspired by tools like Notion and powered by elements like Tailwind
• Work closely with our Head of Design to articulate and evolve Mercor’s design philosophy and culture

Requirements

• 4–8+ years in product design, ideally at fast-moving startups or high-bar product teams
• Strong portfolio that demonstrates both visual polish and UX depth
• Experience working closely with engineers and understanding implementation constraints
• Comfort jumping into product discussions, prioritization, and pushing features across the finish line
• Proven ability to operate autonomously and define design processes in ambiguous environments
• Passion for building products that are intuitive, beautiful, and a joy to use
• Excitement to work directly with founders and influence company-wide product direction

Qualifications

• 4-8+ years in product design

Nice to Have

• Experience building internal tools, marketplaces, or AI-driven products
