This role involves unit responsibility for practice, quality of care, and service delivery within the inpatient behavioral health unit at St. Charles Parish Hospital. It requires providing leadership and support to staff members and managing personnel, supplies, and equipment cost-effectively.
Responsibilities
- Assume unit responsibility for the practice, quality of care, and service delivered
- Provide leadership and support to encourage optimum staff development and performance
- Manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment in a cost-effective manner
- Ensure quality of care and patient satisfaction through unit-specific systems and improvements
- Ensure operational profitability with preliminary budgets, performance data, system reporting, and inventory management
- Provide care to patients, effectively using the nursing process
- Communicate pertinent information to patients, families, and staff
- Participate in activities for professional development and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials
- Manage, develop, retain, and inspire an engaged workforce
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN)
- 3 years of experience as an RN
- 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor or leader
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association
- Knowledge of nursing practice
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
- 3 years of experience as an RN including 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor or leader. 2 years of experience working in an inpatient BHU preferred.
