The Unit Coordinator provides administrative support to clinicians and staff in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, organizing priorities, managing confidential patient information, and coordinating patient flow. This role acts as a liaison between patients, visitors, and clinicians, ensuring effective communication and outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical and other administrative duties to support the floor or unit.
- Greet and interact with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally.
- Receive, prioritize, organize, and manage information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.
- Schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
- Enter accurate and timely information into the electronic medical record regarding admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Contact ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services, and supplies, tracking status and facilitating repairs.
- Assist manager with payroll duties or staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2-3 years administrative support experience
- Proficiency with office procedures and equipment (filing, copying, scanning, printing, faxing)
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to proofread and edit written documents
- Ability to use phone system
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
- 2-3 years administrative support experience required
