Unit Based Educator

About This Role

This role involves collaborating with nursing leadership to implement and evaluate nursing care standards, develop and conduct educational programs for nursing staff, and serve as a clinical resource in the Med/Surg unit.

Responsibilities

• Integrates UnityPoint Health Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in care delivery
• Collaborates in developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of evidenced based practice and policies/procedures
• Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical orientation for nursing staff
• Supports clinical preceptor for effective clinical education of staff
• Assesses educational needs of staff and identifies learning opportunities
• Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of in services and continuing education offerings
• Serves as a resource to clinical staff in specific area of clinical expertise
• Consults with nursing leadership regarding clinical competence, equipment, and care delivery systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Two years of experience in relevant clinical area
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within 3 months)
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds
• Fluent English (writes, reads, comprehends, speaks)
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
• Customer/patient focused
• Critical thinking skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. BSN Preferred
• Two years of experience in relevant clinical area required. Minimum of five years Med-Surg experience preferred.
