This role involves preparing chemotherapy, TPNs, IV additive solutions, and irrigating solutions using aseptic technique under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist at UnityPoint Health. The technician will also assist with ordering supplies, managing inventory, and delivering medications to patient care areas.
Responsibilities
- Manage scheduling and preparation of chemotherapy, TPNs, IV additive solutions, and irrigating solutions using aseptic technique in laminar air flow hoods
- Assist the pharmacist with ordering supplies and pharmaceuticals
- Unpack and store drug supplies
- Manage recalls and DSCSA Regulations
- Rotate inventory and check outdates
- Refill Automated Dispensing Cabinets
- Utilize and update Bar Codes in Omni refills and EMR system
- Refill/stock crash carts
- Deliver medication to patient care areas
- Understand and follow standard dilution and preparation procedures for all drugs for all age groups
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Registration with the State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Two (2) years of related work experience or education to replace work experience preferred
