About This Role

This role is for an undergraduate student passionate about nuclear science and engineering to contribute to US national security through advanced nuclear technology.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in engineering and instrumentation support for subcritical and critical experiment design and analysis.
  • Participate across multiple teams and gain exposure to the nuclear data pipeline.
  • Travel for activities at the Nuclear Criticality Experimental Research Center (NCERC) at Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
  • Attend group meetings within NEN-2 and internal seminars at the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in science or engineering while pursuing a science or engineering degree.
  • Specific knowledge and experience in Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) or higher from an accredited science or engineering undergraduate program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree (or recent graduate) in a science or engineering field.
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Electro/Mechanical Assemblies.
  • Knowledge or experience with mechanical design of portable / semi-portable instruments.
  • Coursework in material properties used in engineering design.
  • Ability to obtain a Q Clearance.
