Shift Operations Manager

About This Role

Manage and maintain safe, secure, and compliant work environments at facilities within Los Alamos National Laboratory, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient mission execution, particularly focusing on moderate hazard nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain safe, secure, and compliant work environments at facilities
• Oversee day-to-day operations of moderate hazard nuclear facilities
• Direct the plan of the day and investigation/reporting processes for abnormal events
• Lead small project management initiatives
• Oversee management functions in related deployed organizations (Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Basis, Operations, Radiation Protection, etc.)

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge/understanding of Integrated Safety Management, Formality of Operations, and Safety Basis
• Ability to serve as a member of the Facility Incident Command during emergency response
• Thorough understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, lock-out/tag-out and facility policies and procedures
• Experience managing day-to-day activities of organizations deployed to the FOD
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report/presentation preparation
• Ability to be certified as an Operations Center Operator/ Supervisor
• Completion of TA55 OM qualification plus site-specific training requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or related Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4 years of Nuclear Experience required; or 5 years related experience with a Bachelor's degree

Nice to Have

• Background in DOE, Commercial, Navy or Navy Shipyard Nuclear Operations
• Knowledge and understanding of Nuclear Facility conduct of maintenance, conduct of engineering, conduct of operations and quality assurance programs
