About This Role

The Ultrasound Technologist performs sonographic examinations to record images of patients for diagnostic purposes. This role involves evaluating and recording critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data, and presenting preliminary findings to physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Select and examine images, identify differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determine if the exam scope needs extension
  • Present sonograms and preliminary findings to physicians
  • Complete documentation and maintain patients’ medical records
  • Assist physicians and healthcare teams during invasive procedures
  • Maintain and clean sonographic equipment
  • Perform medical care as needed, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs, and giving emergency treatments
  • Insert patient information and personal data into the computer for examination records
  • Assess patient’s needs for history prior to exams and explain processes to patients
  • Monitor and adjust images for quality
  • Record optimal anatomical images for permanent records on PACS, disc, printout, or film

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology or graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Technician Program
  • BLS certification
  • Current R.D.M.S. Certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinic functions
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills
  • Ability to operate imaging technology and machinery

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology or graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Technician Program
  • Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience strongly preferred (six months to one year related experience preferred), new graduates will be considered.

Nice to Have

  • Registration with ARDMS or ARRT
  • ACLS certification
  • Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience (6-12 months)
  • Experience with EMR systems and database management
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and third-party payer guidelines
