Travel Pediatric Surgical RN

About This Role

Provide direct and indirect nursing care to pediatric surgical patients in a hospital setting. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a hospital to a variety of pediatric patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
• Assist physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
• Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary
• Administer medication as prescribed
• Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Deliver patient care competently
• Interact with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge
• Inform patient and family of hospital procedures
• Make referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
• Delegate tasks to support staff

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in pediatric surgical nursing
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Computer skills
