About This Role

Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population in a hospital setting, from simple to complex health problems. Manage an assigned group of patients, document responses, and assist physicians in examinations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician order on assigned patients
• Assist physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
• Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients and intervene when necessary
• Administer medication as prescribed
• Initiate, regulate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Deliver patient care competently
• Interact with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge
• Inform patient and family of hospital procedures
• Make referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
• Delegate tasks to support staff

Requirements

• 1 year of experience
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Some computer skills
