Travel PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse

About This Role

Join American Traveler as a Travel PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit, managing complex patient conditions and supporting sister units.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed acuity PCU with medical-surgical telemetry and med-surg patients
• Manage patient population including PCU, med-surg telemetry, surgical pre- and post-op, with rare pediatric cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:3-5 on days/weekends and 1:3-6 on nights
• Work every other weekend and cover holidays
• Perform night shifts (3x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:00
• Float to sister units including West 2, West 3, and Observation Unit as required
• Perform procedures such as post-MI care, insulin protocol management, blood product administration, wound care, CVA and seizure disorder management
• Operate equipment including telemetry, IV infusion devices, feeding tubes, wound vacs, external CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy setups
• Document using Epic, dispense medication via Pyxis, and communicate using SBAR
• Manage complex patient conditions in a mixed acuity environment
• Be comfortable with a variety of surgical and medical diagnoses, and specialized procedures such as continuous bladder irrigation and high flow respiratory support

Requirements

• Active NY RN license
• At least 1 year of recent PCU/IMC nursing experience within the last 3 years
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac and insulin drips, and manage central and peripheral lines
• Experience in med-surg telemetry and stepdown level care
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent PCU/IMC nursing experience within the last 3 years

Nice to Have

• PALS certification
• TCAR certification
