Travel MedSurg/Oncology Registered Nurse

About This Role

Join as a Travel MedSurg/Oncology Registered Nurse in Redding, CA, working night shifts in an acute care hospital to provide specialized oncology and medical-surgical patient care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 17-bed Med/Surg-Oncology unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Primarily care for oncology cases and some Med/Surg overflow patients
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5, with a possibility of 1:4 if a patient is receiving chemotherapy
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45pm to 7:15am with four weekend shifts required per four-week schedule
• Float to related Med/Surg units or telemetry with a 1:4 ratio, and be first to float
• Document using the Cerner charting system
• Utilize portable telemetry boxes as needed and read and interpret telemetry
• Provide oncology and Med/Surg patient care, including telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Participate in a rotating holiday schedule with permanent staff

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration
• Minimum 2-3 years of recent specialty experience in Med/Surg-Oncology
• Current BLS certification required
• COVID vaccination required
• Must have prior travel nursing experience
• Must be comfortable caring for oncology patients without administering chemotherapy
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam prior to start
• Ability to pass sterile technique testing during orientation

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of recent specialty experience in Med/Surg-Oncology
