Transportation Operations Manager

About This Role

Oversee transportation operations and staff, ensuring efficient freight loading and unloading while adhering to safety and cost standards. This includes planning, supervising, evaluating workloads, and directly interacting with terminal staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of facilities and subordinate staff including supervisors, coordinators, clerks, spotters, and drivers.
• Develop a strategic plan with the Transportation Manager for efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of equipment and personnel.
• Oversee asset management, delivery/logistics, regulatory compliance, productivity improvement, planning and organization.
• Ensure all customer pick-up and delivery requirements meet customer standards.
• Audit compliance of both internal and external SOPs.
• Ensure equipment is utilized in the most efficient manner.
• Partner with other leaders to balance labor ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
• Conduct analysis of workload compared to labor hours and equipment.
• Plan long-term labor needs based on sales, forecasts and historical data.
• Make recommendations to the Transportation Manager on programs to improve transportation operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of supervisory experience in a supply chain industry
• Experience with TMW and People Net applications
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Working knowledge of transportation / mechanical equipment
• Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field preferred
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in a supply chain industry
