About This Role

Perform complex diagnostic evaluations and develop individualized treatment programs for patients, including those with complex, rare, or multiple dysfunctions, in accordance with professional guidelines. Monitor treatment outcomes, provide patient and family education, and communicate recommendations to physicians and other providers. Participate in professional development and contribute to team meetings and interdisciplinary forums.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex diagnostic evaluations upon physician referral and in accordance with departmental and professional guidelines and standards
  • Review patient medical history/record and select, administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized tests and measurements
  • Synthesize, interpret and analyze evaluation findings incorporating the patient and family profile
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for patients, including those with complex, rare or multiple dysfunctions
  • Monitor treatment outcomes, modifying program as needed and communicating recommendations to physicians and other providers
  • Utilize advanced clinical reasoning skills for selection/fabrication of orthotics, adaptive/assistive equipment and technology
  • Train patients, families and/or caretakers in use/operation of prescribed orthotics/equipment
  • Record assessments, diagnoses and treatment plans in patient medical record according to established documentation standards
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, referrals and other materials for schools, providers, payors and others as needed
  • Assign standardized billing codes and corresponding charges required for reimbursement
  • Assist in planning and organizing daily clinical operations within designated area
  • Self identify and develop clinical knowledge and skills through participation in professional organizations and continuing education programs
  • Serve as a resource in general pediatrics as well as area(s) of clinical expertise
