Teller I

About This Role

The Teller I is responsible for daily teller transactions in the branch, handling deposits, payments, and withdrawals. This role focuses on delivering outstanding customer service and developing client relationships by identifying referral opportunities for additional bank products and services.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer account services including receiving deposits, loan payments, cashing checks, and issuing withdrawals.
• Answer customer questions in person and over the telephone.
• Record customer account transactions, including cashier checks, traveler's checks, and special services.
• Cross-sell bank products by informing customers of new services and product promotions, ascertaining needs, and directing them to a branch representative.
• Complete special customer requests such as closing accounts, taking check orders, exchanging foreign currencies, and providing special statements.
• Reconcile cash drawer by proving cash transactions, counting and packaging currency and coins, and reconciling loan coupons.
• Comply with bank operations and security procedures, participating in dual-control functions and maintaining customer traffic surveys.
• Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential.
• Improve teller job knowledge by attending training sessions.
• Contribute to customer service and bank success by welcoming new requests and helping others accomplish job results.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Ability to handle sensitive confidential information
• Excellent mathematical aptitude
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Strong interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Experience in a cash handling role preferred
