About This Role

The Teller II is responsible for handling daily teller transactions in both the lobby and drive-up branch locations. This role ensures outstanding customer service and develops client relationships by identifying referral opportunities for additional Retail products and other business lines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer account services by receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals, recording night and mail deposits, and selling cashier's checks, traveler's checks and savings bonds
  • Answer customer's questions in person and/or on the telephone
  • Record customer account transactions by logging cashier checks, travelers' checks, and other special services; prepare currency transaction reports
  • Cross-sell bank products by answering inquiries, informing customers of new services and product promotions, ascertaining customer needs, and directing customers to a branch representative
  • Complete special customer requests by closing accounts, taking orders for checks, opening and closing Christmas and vacation clubs, exchanging foreign currencies, and providing special statements, copies, and referrals
  • Complete safe-deposit box procedures
  • Reconcile cash drawer by proving cash transactions, counting and packaging currency and coins, reconciling loan coupons and other transactions, turning in excess cash and mutilated currency to Teller Group Leader, and maintaining supply of cash and currency
  • Comply with bank operations and security procedures by participating in all dual-control functions, maintaining customer traffic surveys, auditing other teller currency, and assisting in certification of proof
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential and cautioning others regarding potential breaches
  • Improve teller job knowledge by attending training sessions
  • Contribute to customer service and bank success by welcoming related, different, and new requests to include helping others accomplish job results

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1-3 years experience in a cash handling role
  • Ability to handle sensitive confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills
