This role involves continuous ECG monitoring and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms in an Emergency Department setting. The Telemetry Technician will identify and respond to life-threatening rhythm changes, communicate effectively with care teams, and troubleshoot monitoring equipment.
Responsibilities
- Continuous ECG monitoring and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms & dysrhythmias
- Identify and respond to life-threatening rhythm changes
- Initiate codes and record rhythms during code situations
- Perform EKGs with proper electrode placement
- Communicate effectively with charge nurses, physicians, and care teams
- Enter and verify orders in the system
- Retrieve and report lab results to nursing leadership
- Troubleshoot monitoring equipment and respond to alarms promptly
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Dysrhythmia Certification
- Direct experience working as a Telemetry Technician or Monitor Tech
- Strong ECG strip analysis and arrhythmia interpretation skills
