Technician - Unit Support Emergency Department

About This Role

This full-time night shift Technician role provides direct patient care and clerical duties in the Emergency Department, supporting the patient care team and ensuring a clean and orderly environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Administer direct patient care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse
• Provide unit clerical duties for the department
• Provide support to the patient care team
• Ensure a clean and orderly environment for the patient
• Provide information, directions, and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors
• Schedule tests and procedures for patients
• Maintain patient records and sign patients in and out of the unit
• Order, receive, and deliver equipment and supplies for the patient care team
• Provide continuous observation, including suicide prevention

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities
• Knowledge of principles of infection control
• Basic computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program

Nice to Have

• Completion of Unit Secretary training program
