Sterile Processing Supervisor

About This Role

Oversee the preparation, sterilization, and distribution of medical equipment and supplies for patient care at University Hospital. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and supporting the department's sterilization goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation, sterilization and distribution of equipment, supplies, instruments, and endoscopes needed for patient care
• Support the goals associated with the broad spectrum of sterilization and the needs of all customers
• Supervise and develop staff
• Ensure appropriate decontamination and sterilization processes
• Prepare reports and assist with the development of policies and procedures
• Implement programs associated with sterile processing responsibilities
• Ensure patient and team member safety
• Adhere to regulatory agency recommendations related to the sterile processing area

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 active CRCST/CSPDT/CFER national certificates and/or Certified Surgical Technologist
• One national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL)
• 24 CE credits annually in CS field
• Basic Life Support certification through AHA
• 5-7 years relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge or ability to learn skills associated with sterilization practices
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology and anatomy
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and Professional Recommended Practices
• Basic computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, Associates Degree preferred.
• 5-7 years relevant experience
