Technician

About This Role

This role involves providing timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for FedEx Freight's vehicle fleet. Tasks include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and modifications for tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
• Perform basic diagnostics to identify source of trouble and make necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Work with other technicians in performing preventative maintenance and repairs
• Ensure proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, complete reports in writing and electronically
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and document the work
• Perform paint and body work on vehicles, as required

Requirements

• One year experience performing vehicle maintenance OR vehicle maintenance certificate OR completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program
• Necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred
• One year experience performing vehicle maintenance or a vehicle maintenance certificate from an accredited vocation/trade school or completion of the FedEx Freight, Inc. Apprentice Program

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices
• Paint and body work experience
