About This Role

Provide timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for FedEx Freight's vehicle fleet and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This role involves advanced diagnostics and mentoring less-experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, modify, and perform preventive maintenance inspections on vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
  • Troubleshoot and perform advanced diagnostics to identify source of trouble and execute repairs or component replacement/rebuilding
  • Adjust equipment for safe and efficient operation and prepare required safety documentation
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians
  • Ensure proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completing reports in writing and electronically
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and document the work
  • Perform paint and body work on vehicles, as required

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance
  • Demonstrated competency in repair and maintenance of Brakes, Electrical, PMI, Powertrain, and Trailing Equipment
  • Proficient computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
  • In-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engines and on-board computers
  • Experience using precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices
  • Necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or GED), preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance. A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate may substitute for one-year and a Master ASE certification for an additional two years.

Nice to Have

  • Class A CDL
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Paint and body work experience
