Systems Administrator

About This Role

Join the Security Services Department as an IT Systems Administrator, supporting enterprise applications, managing IT security, and leading disaster recovery processes for MIT Lincoln Laboratory's mission in National Security.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first line of response for all application issues
• Oversee user account management
• Lead IT Security related matters, including vulnerability assessments and remediation
• Perform patching and manage and maintain data security plans (DSP)
• Lead the team’s Disaster Recovery process, including backups and restores
• Utilize enterprise monitoring and review logs
• Work with key Laboratory resources and external vendors for problem resolution and system upgrades
• Create and maintain all technical documentation
• Assist the Senior Systems Administrator with IT Infrastructure matters
• Back up Systems Analysts with SQL and reporting tasks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent relevant experience
• Minimum of two years’ experience in an Information Technology environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems
• Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts such as routing, switching, TCP/IP protocol
• Exposure to SQL and database management systems
• Ability to learn new technologies and disciplines quickly
• Ability to obtain a Security+ certification within 6 months of employment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology, or relevant experience
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in an Information Technology environment
