Join the Advanced Imager Technology Group's semiconductor device test team to characterize and understand novel photodetectors. Design and carry out appropriate measurements, analyze data, and debug problems related to photon-counting receivers and visible/infrared imagers.
Responsibilities
- Join the semiconductor device test team and assist in the characterization and understanding of novel photodetectors
- Design and carry out appropriate measurements for device characterization
- Analyze data for validity and usefulness in answering underlying device performance questions
- Perform independent thought and problem solving
- Use best science and engineering judgment to debug problems
- Operate independently on experiments and as part of a group to achieve larger objectives
Requirements
- Familiarity with optical laboratory experimental design, test, and standard equipment (power meters, optical spectrum analyzers, fiber components)
- Competency in electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, frequency/pulse generators)
- Scientific data analysis and data reduction (MATLAB, Python)
- Experience debugging and interpreting data products
- Experience formulating hypotheses, designing experiments to test hypotheses, and evaluating data quality and relevance
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate results and ideas (written or verbal)
Qualifications
- BS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or similar
- Entry level; 3 years of relevant work experience considered in lieu of formal degree for some areas.
Nice to Have
- Software programming (C/C++, Python or Matlab preferred)
- FPGA programming (Verilog)
- Firmware and software integration
