This role involves participating with the Health Care Team to deliver quality health care to patients, reflecting Kaiser Permanente's mission, vision, and values. The Surgical Technologist will perform in the scrub role during surgical procedures and coordinate activities with other OR professionals, supporting population-based care and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Comply with shift, unit, and organizational policies and procedures including reliability and attendance standards
- Monitor and take corrective action to prevent recurring absences
- Communicate information to maintain continuity of care
- Obtain and demonstrate skills to provide appropriate population-based and culturally sensitive care to patients and families
- Participate in accurate pre-operative briefing and time out
- Utilize knowledge of type of procedure to plan for appropriate set up
- Apply principles of aseptic technique
- Evaluate sterile packs and supplies
- Provide a well organized sterile area and anticipate the needs of the team, observing sterile technique
- Assist with appropriate measures in emergency situations
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years current scrubbing experience in total joint procedures (Hips, knees, revision total joints, fractures, cable systems, hemi arthroplasty)
- Knowledge of sterile core area
- Knowledge of sterile technique; operating room procedures and equipment; dexterity with hands
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discipline
- Ability to follow instruction
- Knowledge of all total joint instrumentation, equipment and supplies
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
- Minimum two (2) years current scrubbing experience in total joint procedures
Nice to Have
- Two (2) to five (5) years of scrubbing experience in all surgical procedures in inpatient or ambulatory O.R. setting
- Ability to rotate through sterile core area
- Ability to clean and reprocess instruments, stock supplies, and pick case carts
- Minimum three (3) years current scrubbing experience in total joint procedures
- Ability to scrub hip arthroscopy
