RN, Outpatient - OR Circulating Nurse

About This Role

This RN position is responsible for delivering quality healthcare to patients primarily in an outpatient OR circulating nurse capacity. The role involves utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills to address both acute and chronic patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide a variety of nursing services, both in-person and by phone, utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills
• Adhere to Quality of Service Standards and Behavioral Guidelines, demonstrating commitment to Kaiser Permanente's mission
• Utilize a critical thinking approach to problem-solve and make decisions in clinical practice
• Provide competent and culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population
• Apply leadership skills to facilitate effective team functioning within the healthcare team
• Participate in population-based care activities, including outreach, and provide health education
• Demonstrate technological literacy in using computerized information systems for patient care documentation and management
• Participate in ongoing continuing education and share knowledge with other healthcare team members
• Perform and modify therapeutic and preventive nursing measures, administering treatments and medications
• Perform skilled nursing tasks competently, including triage and telephone advice within scope of practice

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years
• Minimum two (2) years of experience circulating in an inpatient or ambulatory surgery operating room in the past 5 years
• Demonstrates clinical nursing and leadership skills
• Able to type 20 words per minute
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn computerized information systems
• Demonstrates ability to work within teams and within a dynamic work environment
• Customer focused

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing. High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years, including two (2) years circulating in an inpatient or ambulatory surgery operating room.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with population care/case management, triage and advice
• Current or future bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of operating room circulating and scrubbing experience
• Two (2) years of experience circulating in an inpatient or ambulatory surgery operating room in the past three (3) years
• Nurse Operating Room Certificate (US-CNOR)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (US-ACLS)
• Pre-Op area skills
• IV start skills
