Surgical Technician - OLGMC Labor and Delivery

About This Role

This role involves preparing equipment and supplies for surgical and endoscopy procedures, competently scrubbing for surgeries, and assisting in endoscopy procedures, all under the supervision of a registered nurse to ensure efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures
• Competently scrub for surgical procedures and assist for endoscopy procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse
• Perform direct patient care duties
• Organize activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily department needs
• Care for and provide services to patients/customers in specific relations to their age and developmental stage
• Communicate information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members, and co-workers
• Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials
• Adapt to rapid changes in the department caused by unit census, patient acuity, and resource availability

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist Experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
• Expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic techniques
• Knowledge of human anatomy, surgery procedures, and implementation instruments and technologies
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist Experience
• None required, 1 year preferred in a similar medical setting

Nice to Have

• 1 year of experience in a similar medical setting
• Certification In Surgical Technology
