This Supply Chain Manager will source direct supply chain components and parts, primarily plastics, for Tesla's various vehicle and energy programs. The role focuses on negotiating commercial terms, driving cost reduction initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating with engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Own RFQs and ensure commercial terms are agreed upon and documented, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, and Piece Price Agreements.
- Negotiate appropriate contracts before business initiation.
- Drive piece price and tooling negotiation processes to meet best-in-class commodity pricing and quality standards.
- Drive continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through periodic price negotiations.
- Monitor global industry trends and track technology roadmaps to partner with design teams in identifying and mitigating supply and demand challenges.
- Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including dispute resolution, scorecards, and business reviews.
- Collaborate with internal and external technical stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional teams to manage project timelines, including developing and maintaining action trackers and Gantt charts.
- Communicate key supply, cost, and/or quality issues to management teams and develop corrective action plans.
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain management or commodity management associated to plastics
- Experience with mechanical and/or electrical engineering concepts related to the commodity
- Ability to generate bottom-up should costs based on manufacturing process understanding
- Technical and commercial understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes on plastic injection molding
- Proficient knowledge of technical requirements and product design
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain management or commodity management associated with plastics
