Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the activities of in-house and contract fiber technicians across various fiber projects, ensuring adherence to standards and efficient resource management. This role involves setting priorities, assigning tasks, and regularly checking work, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coach direct and functional reports, monitoring performance against established goals.
• Inspect the quality of work performed by in-house technicians and contractors, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
• Develop and implement appropriate methods, practices, policies, and procedures, communicating changes to employees.
• Review and analyze service, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify causes of nonconformity.
• Develop and assign work schedules for the fiber team.
• Ensure proper maintenance of resources, including vehicles, equipment, and inventory.
• Coordinate with engineers and developers in designing fiber plant, performing field walkouts as required.
• Complete bill of materials (BOM) for planned construction or fiber span replacements.
• Practice and enforce Company safety policies and procedures.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Smartsheet
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, fiber optic designs, and schematics
• Knowledge of physical construction and design of aerial and underground cable plant (coax & fiber)
• Basic knowledge of various fiber cable builds (FTTU, MDU/SDU, Nodes, Metro-E, etc)
• Basic knowledge of the operation of a signal level meter, OTDR, and optical light meters
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Clean driving record

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber, 2-5 years supervisory experience (preferred)

Nice to Have

• 2-5 years supervisory experience with steady work history
