About This Role

This Groundman role supports a team in building, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication distribution systems. The individual will be responsible for site preparation, material handling, equipment operation, and assisting craft workers.

Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare construction sites, removing debris and hazards
• Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized and de-energized overhead and underground lines safely
• Assist with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear
• Set poles and anchors
• Help the team complete tasks and meet project objectives
• Identify utilities and monitor digging to prevent utility strikes
• Clean up and maintain equipment
• Restock trucks with supplies to ensure crews have proper tools
• Ensure safety for self and others
• Operate vehicles and equipment professionally

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year experience
• Ability to work long periods, evenings, and weekends when necessary
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs as needed
• Ability to work at heights and/or in confined spaces
• Basic understanding of equipment set up and grounding
• Excellent mechanical skills
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work as a team
• Oral communication skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one (1) year experience
