Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the activities of in-house and contract fiber technicians for various fiber projects. This role involves negotiating progress, setting priorities, assigning tasks, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise direct and functional reports, coaching and monitoring performance to established goals and objectives
• Inspect the quality of work of in-house technicians and contractors regularly, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Company standards
• Develop and implement appropriate methods, practices, policies, and procedures, informing employees of changed processes
• Review and analyze service, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with specifications
• Develop and assign work schedules
• Ensure resources (e.g., vehicles, equipment, and inventory) are maintained in proper working order
• Coordinate with engineers and developers in designing plant; draw and sketch installation and location of equipment and cable
• Practice Company safety policies and procedures and ensure they are followed
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 Years Technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
• Ability to manage emergencies and rapidly changing priorities
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings
• Ability to read, edit and understand fiber optic designs and/or schematics
• Knowledge of the physical construction and design of aerial and underground of cable plant including coax & fiber
• Basic knowledge of various fiber cable builds (FTTU, MDU/SDU, Nodes, Metro-E, etc)
• Basic knowledge of the operation of a signal level meter, OTDR and optical light meters
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Clean driving record

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber; 2-5 years supervisory experience with steady work history preferred
