The Distribution Operations Supervisor oversees the receiving, storing, packing, and shipping of merchandise and materials, ensuring employee safety and compliance. This role involves maintaining documentation, resolving shipping problems, and developing a distribution team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the receiving, storing, packing, and shipping of merchandise or materials.
- Maintain necessary files and documentation and support product verification, packing, unpacking, and loading of shipments.
- Ensure employee safety and compliance with all policies.
- Resolve problems such as damaged goods or shipping errors.
- Select, train, and develop teams.
- Perform managerial responsibilities at least 50% of the time.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures including handling exceptions
- Basic reading, writing, and numerical ability
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively motivate and manage a team
- Ability to operate powered equipment such as forklift or hydraulic jack lift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years related experience in distribution operations.
