Outbound Wave Planner

About This Role

The Outbound Wave Planner is responsible for organizing and scheduling shipments leaving the warehouse or distribution center, ensuring efficient order fulfillment and adherence to safety and company policies. This role involves managing outbound activity, coordinating with teams, and maintaining inventory levels to optimize the picking process.

Responsibilities

• Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs and follow safe work practices.
• Adhere to Company policies including EH&S, EEO, discipline/corrective action, and security.
• Manage all outbound, order fulfillment activity at the warehouse.
• Identify and schedule groups of outbound shipments for waves.
• Prioritize which waves should be picked first.
• Print and distribute shipping labels to outbound specialists.
• Work with Outbound and Replenishment teams to ensure adequate flow of activity and mitigate bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with outbound associates for timely picking and staging of containers.
• Maintain a clean and organized WMS system, ensuring FIFO order processing and quick turnaround.
• Monitor inventory levels in order picking locations and request replenishment for needed items.

Requirements

• Experience with warehouse operations, inventory concepts and procedures.
• Highly detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to multitask.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot.
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team atmosphere.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to read/write.
• Good physical condition, including ability to stand, walk, move for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry 25-30 lbs.
• Skill in handling & manipulating items, including operating equipment like hand trucks or pallet jacks.
• Agility to navigate through aisles and around equipment.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions.

Qualifications

• Some college is preferred but not required.
• 2-5 years’ experience managing shipping/outbound warehouse activities.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge and experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) - Red Prairie and/or Softeon systems.
